La Mimosa is situated 1km from the market town of Orgiva in the Lower Alpujarras, an area of scattered white Andalucian villages spread over the southern slopes and valleys of the Sierra Nevada which are Spain's highest mountains. Only one hour south of Granada and two hours east of Malaga this rural area is vividly described in the best selling book "Driving Over Lemons" by Chris Stewart. The house is easily accessible and offers a rare experience of real Spain yet is within easy reach of beaches supermarkets and restaurants etc.

The 9x4 metre private pool has pretty underwater lighting and is set in a garden with fruit trees including mandarin, avocado, grapefruit, fig, lemon, nispara (loquat), cherimoya (custard apple), banana and a variety of grapes. There are shaded sitting and dining areas with new outdoor furniture, sun loungers and a barbecue. All bedrooms and the living/dining room have ceiling fans and insect nets, there is secure car parking and the property is securely fenced making it safe for young children.

The house is on a surfaced track only five minutes drive from Orgiva amidst unmade country lanes and goat tracks established centuries ago. Whilst sitting on one of the terraces or beside the pool you will occasionally hear the tinkling of goat bells as shepherds pass by. This is real unhurried Spain as it was before the days of mass tourism.

40 minutes away

La Mimosa is just a five minute drive or twenty minute walk from the from the market town of Orgiva. It is a ten minute walk to the Rio Guadalfeo (River Guadalfeo). The immediate area is one of orange, lemon and olive groves with stunning views from the garden and house south to the Lujar mountains and north to the snow capped Sierra Nevada.
